Visto International for Rights and Development held a workshop on Sunday, March 1 titled, The role of the administrative judiciary in protecting the rights of individuals, in the Jordanian capital, Amman.
The workshop, which was attended by 16 participants, was presented by Median Mahasneh, the Doctor of Administrative Law at Isra University and the former Director of the Amman Court of First Instance.
The target group was practicing Jordanian lawyers, and the workshop covered several issues, the most prominent of which tackled the concept of the administrative judiciary and the degrees of administrative litigation in Jordan. It also featured the process of referring to the administrative judiciary as a guarantor of freedoms and rights in the face of administrative decisions.
The workshop also presented several examples of cases in which the administrative judiciary has protected the rights and freedoms of individuals, as well as best practices for protecting those rights through an administrative claim.
During the workshop, the concept of stakeholders in the administrative procedure. The legal status of stakeholders vis-à-vis the management authority was also explained, along with the rights that stakeholders enjoy and which are protected by the administrative judiciary. This workshop is part of a series of legal workshops implemented by Visto International in MENA and European countries in order to enhance the use of legal and judicial tools to protect the rights and freedoms of individuals.
